In order to promote the export of textiles, on Tuesday, the Permanent Textile Committee of the Pakistani National Assembly instructed the Ministry of Textiles to begin preparations for the establishment of a separate export development (EDF), which will be used to promote the export of textiles nationwide.
The committee was informed that last year the textile industry earned US$12 billion and made a good contribution to EDF, but unfortunately, 40% of it was not used to promote exports from the textile industry. Since the government allows the separate establishment of the Ministry of Textiles, it is equally important that the export development should be separated from the Ministry of Commerce so that it can be used appropriately to promote exports of the textile industry, which is an important Pakistani industry.
