SZFW: The theme of Shenzhen Fashion Week this season is “Art and Life”. How do you view the relationship between fashion, art and life when designing and creating?

Esa Liang: I like this theme very much. Art and life are inseparable. Art comes from life.

SZFW: What is the theme of this big show? What are the design highlights?

Esa Liang: The theme of this season is "30 years old, everything is just right", mainly around my 30 years old. Many of the stories about design originated from my growing experience, including where the shot was made and where I was born. Speaking of my experience through clothing, more faces will appear in this series, and people who know me will feel that this is more true to me.

In terms of design, the autumn and winter collections use the dark style to combine Chinese traditional elements to add more colors to the dark, showing a variety of styles such as retro, ethnic, teenage, sports, hip hop, and so on, so that everyone can see a more comprehensive Esa Liang.

SZFW: How to find the source of inspiration at the beginning of the design?

Esa Liang: I basically look for design inspiration from my own life. What I express is my own life experience and my interpretation of life. I have always loved watching TV since I was a kid. The various screens on the screen are also sources of many elements of design nowadays, such as tassels, horns, high waists, waistbands, etc... The combination of what you saw and heard makes the series more interesting.

SZFW: What message do you want to pass to everyone in this fashion week show?

Esa Liang: This series is a combination of brand line and sub line, so it will be more abundant. I want customers to like the designer rather than a cold brand, which is why each of my series will be presented around my own story.

Esa used this phrase to describe her brand as “Live in my own world.” Esa Liang at A/W2018 Shenzhen Fashion Week will analyze the 30-year-old world.
